YOUTH WORK

There are those that do things for the right reasons. There are those that do things that do not feel like a choice. There are those that do things because it’s fun. Some of these actions make sense now and some will only make sense far into the future. Penny Frazier uniquely embodies all of the above and remains human through it all in the best way possible. Everyone needs a Penny in their life.

Penny was perfectly suited to her role as Executive Producer on the documentary I directed, JESSE JAMS. She’s a rock’n’roll den mother, a love radical. She knows first-hand that art and music change lives, save lives. Years ago, she told me how she was documenting the life of her friend Jesse, a true rock’n’roll survivor. Through Penny I was drawn into Jesse’s story and got more and more inspired by the hope, hard work, resilience, and loyalty of Penny and Jesse’s friendship. I am honoured that they both trusted me enough to direct this film, and I’m grateful for what I learned from them about the art of living. As Penny always says, “Love wins!” And as Jesse always says, “Heh heh. Awesome.”

A few months after graduating with my bachelor's degree in Psychology, I had the privilege of having Penny as my first supervisor in the field of child and youth care back in 2012. As someone who was new to the field, I found her caring and selfless nature both inspirational and aspirational. Penny has the ability to get past the defence mechanisms of even the most challenging of youths through her compassionate nature and her genuine desire to connect with them. Now, nearly a decade later, I continue to be astounded by Penny’s ability to connect with youth from all walks of life. Whether she’s tirelessly helping them navigate the bureaucratic red tape faced by youth in care, or helping them discover their passions, Penny’s commitment to the well-being of the young people she works with is always on display.

There is no doubt that Penny Frazier is, herself, a talented artist, writer, videographer and even a baseball coach. Her true gift, her real superpower, is helping others to uncover their own talents as artists, writers, musicians, and human beings. Her passion for people, music and art shines through everything she does and everyone she works with and in doing so makes the world a beautiful place.

WRITING

Penny Frazier is a word goddess. Original, creative, imaginative and inventive, Frazier’s ability to use words, weaving and developing them into vivid images and ideas, is truly a remarkable talent. Funny and witty, her innate ability to connect with the subject is refreshing. No matter the project or scope, Frazier constantly exceeds my expectations, writing with such precision and understanding, while maintaining accessibility to the audience.

When I was publisher of the Saint City News we had a humour column written by one Penny Frazier of Bon Accord. She was one of the most popular columnists we had with an uncanny ability to turn events in the everyday life of a Mom, housewife and community volunteer, into the most hilarious yarns ever spun in our pages. In fact, Penny reminded me a lot of a local Erma Bombeck.

If you are considering a writer for your company that is creative, has a flair for writing to your thoughts, has a personal approach and is cognizant of timelines and deadlines, Penny Frazer is your writer. I have had the privilege of working with Penny for the last five years and she has always produced articles with passion and purpose.

I enjoy Penny's writing style. She paints such a vivid picture, I feel compelled to attend whatever event she writes about.
